Who we are

We are freeaudiobooks, a service enabling authors and narrators to distribute free promotional codes to interested listeners. Our website address is: https//freeaudiobooks.co.uk.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

This is a registration site that requires basic information in terms of an email address so that we may communicate with you. We do not share information with any third parties.

As an author/narrator, you have the ability to leave information about yourself in terms of a short self-promoting bio, plus a link to your website, should you so choose. The information you choose to share is entirely at your own discretion and risk.

Authors are encouraged to upload an image of their book cover. When you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

We may retain the information you send us for future reference (e.g. suggestions for site enhancement or improvements) or for as long as a fault or issue needs resolving. In most cases, once the issue has been resolved, contact information is deleted. We do not use information submitted to us for marketing purposes unless you expressly state it is for potential use as a testimonial.

Like the majority of WordPress hosted sites, we use a contact form made available by a third party (a plugin). We have no control over the data that may be collected or stored by third party services.

This site uses cookies – small text files that are placed on your machine to help the site provide a better user experience. In general, cookies are used to retain user preferences, store information for things like shopping baskets, and provide anonymised tracking data to third party applications like Google Analytics. As a rule, cookies will make your browsing experience better. However, you may prefer to disable cookies on this site and on others. The most effective way to do this is to disable cookies in your browser. We suggest consulting the Help section of your browser or taking a look at the About Cookies website which offers guidance for all modern browsers

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Embedded content from other websites

From time to time, this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

We use Google Analytics, a popular web analytics service provided by Google, Inc.

Google Analytics uses cookies (see Cookies section above) to collect information about how visitors use our site. We use the information to compile reports and to help us improve the site. The cookies collect information in an anonymous form, including the number of visitors to the site, where visitors have come to the site from and the pages they visited.

Who we share your data with

By default, we do not share any personal data with anyone.

We use cloud-based services to back up the site and its data. At some point, we may include third-party service providers in the form of payment processors – the data they may collect is outside of our control.

In common with most other WordPress hosted sites, we use third-party services in the form of plugins. These enable us to provide enhancements and services to improve the overall functionality of the site. We do not actively share data with third-party services.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Your contact information

In order for the site to function as it should, we require minimal contact information from you. This is not shared with third-parties and will be deleted upon request.

How we protect your data

We have implemented technical measures to protect the personal data under our control from unauthorised access, improper use or disclosure, unauthorised modification and unlawful destruction or accidental loss. We will not disclose your personal data to other organisations or authorities, except as required by law or when we have already obtained your explicit permission.
